PERSPEX® Pearlescent is a single sided product, use face side only. The beauty of the pearlescent effect is due to the nature of the pigments used reflecting light in a number of directions. Some variation in natural or perceived colour will occur. This natural variation will also provide a directional effect. Adjoining samples should therefore be cut in the same plane. AKRYLON® FIVE-DOT-MISSION
AKRYLON® extruded acrylic glass sheets, offering brilliant clarity, have been assessed as part of our MISSION: TOGETHER. RESPONSIBLE. The product family currently achieves a FIVE-DOT classification with a total of 7 respectively 10 points.
Recycled content
The current production of our AKRYLON® acrylic sheets already contains a proportion of recycled PMMA material. The majority of this material is waste from the manufacturing process which, after being sorted into individual types, can be fed back into the production process as regrind to produce new AKRYLON® sheets. We aim to continue increasing the proportion of recycled regrind in the product in the future. The recent introduction of AKRYLON®re means we are now able to offer a product comprising at least 95 % recycled material from PMMA sheet waste.
All raw materials used in our AKRYLON® sheets comply with the requirements in the current version of the European Union's Chemicals Regulation (REACH). In particular, AKRYLON® sheets are free of any of the substances listed in the current version of the ECHA Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). PMMA does not contain any toxic substances or heavy metals which may cause environmental damage or pose risks to health.
Fossil CO2 bound in the material
Owing to the MMA used as a raw material in the manufacturing process, AKRYLON® contains fossil carbon. However, thanks to its lower density, AKRYLON® contains less fossil carbon per m2 than other transparent plastics. As well as the lower density, another factor to note is that, compared with other plastics, the polymer molecule contains a lower percentage of carbon atoms. By using recycled PMMA in the production of AKRYLON®re, the amount of new materials required can be significantly reduced. This makes a valuable contribution to lowering CO2 emissions and avoiding waste.
Product life cycle
Our AKRYLON® acrylic glass sheets are made of extruded PMMA, a very robust, highly transparent and extremely durable material featuring excellent UV stability and resistance to weathering and ageing. We guarantee a service life of ten years for the AKRYLON® product family. The sheets are protected against the harmful effects of ultra violet rays and there are no significant changes with regard to optical or mechanical properties. When processed, used, and cared for in an appropriate manner, the life cycle of our sheets can be considerably longer than ten years. An extended service life also leads to saving resources as fewer replacements are required. Our AKRYLON® sheets are used in a wide variety of interior and exterior applications where priorities include durability, UV stability and, above all, transparency (92 % light transparency for colourless sheets). AKRYLON® is a product offering sustainable, long-term use and excellent product performance.
Recyclability
AKRYLON® sheets can be converted back into their original raw material, methyl methacrylate (MMA), using various recycling processes. Most modern recycling processes for extruded acrylic glass sheets use mechanical processes which, after sorting the material by type and grinding the PMMA sheets or waste material, feed the regrind back into manufacturing processes to produce new sheets. This is already being implemented in the production of our AKRYLON®re sheets. In addition to mechanical recycling, the PMMA waste material can also be converted into an MMA liquid monomer using chemical recycling (through depolymerisation). The MMA recovered can then be reused to create, among other things, new PMMA sheets which comply with the highest quality standards. Renowned chemical companies are currently undertaking intensive research into improved depolymerisation technologies to achieve a more efficient and sustainable means of recovering the precious raw material MMA. For AKRYLON® HC sheets, recycling by means of depolymerisation is recommended due to the abrasion-resistant coating on one or both sides.

Furthermore, all raw materials used in making our PERSPEX®re sheets also comply with the requirements of the most recent version of the European Union Chemicals Regulation (REACH). In particular, PERSPEX®re sheets do not contain any of the substances listed in the current version of the ECHA Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). Most modern recycling processes convert PMMA sheets or waste from production processes into a MMA liquid monomer using chemical recycling (depolymerisation). The recovered MMA can then be reused to create a new product from an existing one. Renowned chemical companies are currently undertaking intensive research into improved depolymerisation technologies to achieve a more efficient and sustainable means of recovering the precious raw material MMA, which is used in manufacturing CRYLUX® acrylic sheets. These developments support efforts made by the market to increase the rate of PMMA recycling in Europe.
CRYLUX®re FIVE-DOT-MISSION
CRYLUX®re, cast acrylic sheets made using 100 % recycled methyl methacrylate (rMMA), have been assessed in line with our MISSION: TOGETHER. RESPONSIBLE. The product currently achieves a FIVE-DOT classification with a total of 9 points.
Recycled content
We use 100 % recycled methyl methacrylate (rMMA) for the production of our CRYLUX®re cast acrylic sheets. The material is obtained from PMMA scrap and waste produced during manufacturing processes (read more about this process on page 3 of the PERSPEX®re brochure). Furthermore, all raw materials used in making our CRYLUX®re sheets also comply with the requirements of the most recent version of the European Union Chemicals Regulation (REACH). In particular, CRYLUX®re sheets do not contain any of the substances listed in the current version of the ECHA Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). The recent introduction of CRYLON®re means we are now able to offer a product comprising at least 95 % recycled material from PMMA sheet waste.

In particular, CRYLON® sheets are free of any of the substances listed in the current version of the ECHA Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). We have already completely replaced virgin materials in the core of our DIBOND® panels with recycled LDPE, and this means we are able to make an important contribution to closed-loop recycling. By using recycled core material, approximately 6,700 metric tons of LDPE virgin material can be saved every year. We work with selected European suppliers to source recycled LDPE of a consistently high quality. Continuous quality assurance is an essential part of this process for us. What is more, all DIBOND® panels comply with the requirements in the current version of the REACH & RoHS directives. Not only is DIBOND® core material recycled, the aluminium used in our aluminium cover sheets is also in part recycled. Aluminium is one of the materials best suited to recycling because regardless of how often it is recycled, there are no detrimental effects on its material properties. We intend to increase the proportion of recycled aluminium in our cover sheets in the future.

Using recycled LDPE, has already significantly reduced the CO2 footprint. Changing electricity generating methods for aluminium production is another means of reducing the amount of fossil carbon.
Product life cycle
Our high-quality, durable DIBOND® panels are used for long-term indoor and outdoor applications. In terms of weather resistance, the full range of selection criteria advocate the use of DIBOND®. The panels are temperature resistant from -50°C to +80°C, waterproof and UV-resistant. The composite structure of a DIBOND® panel comprises aluminium cover sheets which are particularly corrosion resistant. Depending on where the panel is installed, customers report a service life of up to 20 years.
Recyclability
DIBOND® is completely recyclable, i.e. both the core material and the aluminium cover sheets are recycled and used to produce new material. There are different methods to separate the material components from the composite. We are the first manufacturer of aluminium composite panels in Europe to have established a recycling system for the return of our aluminium composite materials in Germany in April 2023. Collecting and recycling the material is carried out in cooperation with our strong partners in the A|U|F e.V.. This association of German metal construction companies, system houses and other companies, organizes a closed-loop recycling system to deal with the aluminium used in the window, door and façade sectors. Initially, the option of returning our aluminium composite panels will start in Germany and will soon be extended to include other European countries.

HYLITE®, available in the thicknesses of 1.2 and 2 mm, is the world’s thinnest aluminium composite sheet. As a result, the energy and material used in manufacturing the material are kept to a minimum and HYLITE can contribute to reducing the carbon footprint.
Product life cycle
Our HYLITE® sheet material is used in medium-term interior and exterior applications. The material’s good temperature resistance (up to 150°C for a limited period) makes HYLITE® the first choice for a wide number of applications.
Recyclability
HYLITE® is recyclable, i.e. both the core material and the aluminium cover sheets are recycled and used to produce new material. The material can be separated by cutting it into small pieces using, e.g. granulators or shredders, and then sorting it by type for reuse or recycling. There are standard practices and specialised recycling companies for this purpose.
KAPA®TECH FIVE-DOT-MISSION
KAPA®tech, the innovative lightweight sheet, has been assessed in line with our MISSION: TOGETHER. RESPONSIBLE. The product currently achieves a FIVE-DOT classification with a total of 4 points.

The aluminium used in the aluminium cover sheets in KAPA®tech is in part recycled. Aluminium is one of the materials best suited to recycling because regardless of how often it is recycled, there are no detrimental effects on its material properties. KAPA®tech is lightweight due to the special manufacturing technology featuring an expanded foam core between two outer aluminium cover sheets. As the foam core requires fewer resources to manufacture, the material has a lower carbon footprint.
Product life cycle
KAPA®tech foamboards have an average life span of up to several years. Their service life can be considerably longer depending on the application and place of installation, e.g. as a base panel in furniture construction, for ceiling cladding and air conditioning ducts in buildings or in public transport vehicles.
LUMEX® FIVE-DOT-MISSION
LUMEX®, flawlessly extruded transparent and translucent A-PET and PET-G thermoplastic polyester sheets, have been evaluated as part of our MISSION: TOGETHER. RESPONSIBLE. The product family currently achieves a FIVE-DOT classification of 6 points in total.

Our LUMEX® product family comprises Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), a durable thermoplastic. In addition to good long-term properties, this material provides excellent resistance to chemicals, especially our LUMEX®A (A-PET) version. In accordance with EN 13501-1, both LUMEX® A and LUMEX® G sheets are also classified as "B-s1,d0" and are rated “difficult-to-ignite”. The LUMEX® version featuring UV protection offers good weather resistance and these sheets can also be used in outdoor applications for periods of several years. LUMEX®A sheets are sturdy and robust with a high impact strength even at temperatures as low as minus 20°C.
Recyclability
The whole LUMEX® product family can be sorted into individual types for recycling and reuse. LUMEX®A can be disposed of in category 1 (PET) plastic waste in the same way as, for example, PET plastic bottles, meaning it is extremely suitable for recycling. Our IMPEX® sheets are made of polycarbonate, a durable thermoplastic material, which has excellent optical and mechanical properties. Polycarbonate sheets are extremely impact resistant and are virtually unbreakable under normal conditions of use. In addition, the sheets have an excellent resistance to weathering; even at very low or very high temperatures (-40°C to +135°C) they are extremely hard-wearing and resilient. These qualities make IMPEX® sheets ideal for long-term applications both indoors and (in the version featuring UV protection) outdoors.
Recyclability
IMPEX® sheets can be sorted for recycling and reuse. As a thermoplastic, polycarbonate in its pure form is ideal for mechanical recycling.

Recycled content
We are already recovering and reusing our own production waste to create new material in the manufacture of IMPEX® MULTIWALL sheets, and we aim to continue increasing the proportion of recycled regrind content in the future.
All raw materials used in our IMPEX® MULTIWALL sheets comply with the requirements in the current version of the European Union's Chemicals Regulation (REACH). In particular, IMPEX® MULTIWALL sheets are free of any of the substances listed in the current version of the ECHA Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC).
Fossil CO2 bound in the material
Our IMPEX® MULTIWALL is a very lightweight, multi-wall sheet made of polycarbonate, a thermoplastic material. In comparison with solid polycarbonate sheets, the amount of raw material required for the production of IMPEX® MULTIWALL is lower due to its specific sheet structure. The multi-wall structure combined with the excellent properties provided by polycarbonate mean IMPEX® MULTIWALL offers not only very high stability but it is also lightweight. The gaps within the sheet structure are filled with air, resulting in the use of fewer resources and very good cold and heat insulating properties.
Product life cycle
Our IMPEX® MULTIWALL sheets are made of polycarbonate, a durable thermoplastic material, which has excellent optical and mechanical properties. Polycarbonate sheets have a very high impact resistance and are virtually unbreakable under normal conditions of use. In addition, the sheets have an excellent resistance to weathering; even at low and high temperatures (-40°C to +130°C) they are extremely hard wearing and resilient. These qualities make IMPEX® MULTIWALL sheets ideal for long-term applications both indoors and (in the version with UV protection) outdoors.
Recyclability
IMPEX® MULTIWALL sheets can be sorted for recycling and reuse. As a thermoplastic, polycarbonate in its pure form is ideal for mechanical recycling.
DISPA® FIVE-DOT-MISSION
DISPA®, the innovative paper boards made of FSC®-certified paper, have been assessed in line with our MISSION: TOGETHER. RESPONSIBLE. The products currently achieve a FIVE-DOT classification with a total of 10 respectively 13 points.
Biobased Content
Our DISPA® boards are made from 100 % FSC®-certified paper which means they are made from renewable raw materials. FSC®-certification ensures that the wood required for paper production comes from sustainable, environmentally sound and responsible forest management or from other controlled sources.
All raw materials used in our DISPA® paper boards also comply with the requirements in the current version of the European Union's Chemicals Regulation (REACH). In particular, DISPA® paper boards are free of any of the substances listed in the current version of the ECHA Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). The paper boards do not contain any toxic substances or heavy metals that may harm the environment or create health risks.
Recycled Content
The core as well as the cover layers of our DISPA®re sheets are made of FSC®-certified recycled paper.
Fossil CO2 bound in the material
DISPA® paper boards consist of renewable raw materials. The use of paper as the sole component of the paper board means that no fossil CO2 is bound in the material.
Product life cycle
DISPA® is ideally suited as a sustainable solution for short- and medium-term seasonal advertising and signage indoors.
Recyclability
All DISPA® paper boards are fully recyclable, i.e. the paper is returned to the recycling loop and hence used to produce new recycled paper. An established, closedloop recycling system already exists for this purpose. The entire DISPA® product family can be easily and inexpensively disposed of as waste paper through the national waste paper collection systems.
KAPA® FIVE-DOT-MISSION
KAPA®, a high-quality lightweight foamboard with a polyurethane foam core and individual paper cover layers, has been assessed in line with our MISSION: TOGETHER. RESPONSIBLE. The product currently achieves a FIVE-DOT classification with a total of 6 points.
Biobased Content
Not only polyurethane but also an assortment of paper cover layers is used in the production of our KAPA®, foamboard manufacture. The expanded polyurethane foam core comprises 15 % of organic content. These polyols are sourced from renewable raw materials. In the production of our KAPA® boards most of the paper used is FSC® certified and this makes up the main part of the board. The FSC® label stands for a continuous and credible tracking process. It is a clear indicator that the paper comes from responsible forestry and other controlled sources. We are constantly monitoring the availability of other FSC®-certified cover layers, as we are committed to manufacturing as many products as possible using paper from responsible sources.
All raw materials used in our KAPA® boards also comply with the requirements in the current version of the European Union's Chemicals Regulation (REACH). In particular, KAPA® boards are free of any of the substances listed in the current version of the ECHA Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). Product life cycle
The average life span for KAPA® foamboards ranges from several weeks to several months. Depending on the application and location, e.g. in museums, the foamboards’ service life can be considerably longer. KAPA® is more durable than other lightweight foamboards especially when service temperatures are at a consistent -20° to +100°C. The KAPA® product family has been successful in the market for over 50 years and is simply indispensable for numerous short-term and medium-term interior applications.
SMART-X® FIVE-DOT-MISSION
SMART-X®, the distinctive lightweight foamboard for demanding visual communication applications, has been assessed in line with our MISSION: TOGETHER. RESPONSIBLE. The product currently achieves a FIVE-DOT classification with a total of 6 points.
Recycled content
In the manufacture of SMART-X® foamboards, we are already using a proportion of recycled polystyrene material. The production processes have been optimised to ensure waste from the production is recovered at the site itself, processed externally before being fed back into the production process.

SMART-X® foamboards offer advantages in terms of weight and, at the same time, a high degree of stability due to their unique structure of an expanded polystyrene core and impact-resistant polystyrene cover sheets. As the foam core is the main component of the product, fewer resources are required for manufacture and the material has a lower carbon footprint.
Product life cycle
SMART-X® foamboards are extremely light and ideal for both indoor and outdoor purposes. Popular applications include free-standing POS/POP displays or as a printing substrate for all signage types and formats (even up to 2 m wide). In outdoor applications over a period of up to two years, the material’s special properties ensure there are no adverse effects on product performance.
Recyclability
Our SMART-X® range is made up of 100 % pure polystyrene meaning this mono-material is out-standingly adapted to recycling. In recent years, we have continually optimised our production process to recover and reuse our SMART-X® production waste on site and to feed it back into the manufacturing process.
FOAM-X® FIVE-DOT-MISSION

The current production of our POLYCASA® PS sheets already contains a proportion of recycled polystyrene which is mainly recovered from our own production waste. After being sorted into individual types, the material is returned to the production process in the form of regrind. We aim to continue increasing the proportion of recycled regrind in the sheets in the future.

Additionally, the advanced co-extrusion technology at the production site allows us to use recycled material in the core without significantly altering the sheets’ mechanical properties or appearance. Our POLYCASA® HIPS family is made of high impact polystyrene, a durable thermoplastic polymer which is suited to interior applications and, in particular, to applications involving demanding temperature conditions, e.g. for interior refrigerator cladding. The version with UV-protection provides both good impact strength and resistance to weathering, and can be used for outdoor applications for periods of several years. In addition, the sheets offer excellent electrical insulation properties.

In addition, the sheets are extremely resistant to chemicals and to absorbing water.
